Cultural Uniqueness

Roger is an enrolled member of the Quinault Nation, a Northwest Coast, Coastal Salish People.  He is unique in that he is the first metal-smith to come out of the Quinault Nation, in the entire history of the tribe.  He is also a world class guitar player and musician.

Roger's style is further unique because he incorporates Southwest Jewelery Making techniques with Northwest Coast Designs.  He adds stampwork and repousse (bumping up from behind) to give the work sculptural form.  He apprenticed jewelery making with Southwestern jewellers Rick Manuel (Tohono O"odham) Fran Loretto (Jemez-Cochiti), Phil Loretto (Jemez-Cochiti) and Joseph Rosetta (Santo Domingo).
