Mimbres Face
© Roger Cultee 2003
Each Mimbres bowl is a visual book that also tells a story.  The lines at the edges of the bowl are used as guidelines when reverse imaging.  In this image, there is a face in the center with wings on its head and with a snake below it at the bottom of the circle.  Wings equal feathered, snake equals serpent; put it together and you get "Feathered Serpent".  Ancient New Mexican art is the most complex mathematically and the most beautiful.  I personally consider Ancient Mimbres art to be in a category all its own.

Coming soon 8x10 canvas panel print of the image shown.
