The Indigenous Research Center Jade Mask Of Palenque
The man behind the Mask

"Lord Pacal was recognized by the Maya as a Quetzacoatl, who was the bringer of knowledge and the teacher of the fine arts. Another one of his many manifestations was Ehecatl, the God of the Wind. In this decipherment there are two bearded figures in profile who are singing down to Pacal (Quetzacoatl). These two bearded figures are located near the left and right bottom.  At the bottom in the center of the figures is a man's face with serpent eyes. There is also a serpent and jaguar which are part of this image as well. These are only one of the many images that can be found within the mosiac mask of Palenque."
